Who is eligible for the Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center?
- Any Blue Ridge Hospice patient
- Patients who meet hospice admission criteria and have been referred by their family physician
- Patients who are transferring from other Hospice programs who are in need of residential services

What type of patient is served in the Residential Center?
- A patient lives alone and is no longer able to care for themselves
- A patient has a caregiver that is physically unable to provide care at home
- A patient does not have adequate family support
How does a patient get admitted to the Residential Center?
- A wait list is maintained for admission to the residential center
- If you are not currently a Blue Ridge Hospice patient, please contact the referral department for questions/guidance regarding the admission process
- If you are a current Blue Ridge Hospice patient, let your team members know of your interest or need for admission to the residential center
- Prior to admission, a history and physical must be obtain from your primary physician, as well as a completed “Report of Communicable Disease” form from your primary physician
What services are offered at the Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center?
- Home-style meals and snacks are provided. Family members may bring in special food if desired
- Linen service and personal laundry service is provided
- 24-hour staffing
- Planned activities which may include bingo, movie night, music and Sunday socials
- Continued support and oversight from the homecare interdisciplinary team of nurses, medical social workers, physicians, spiritual support staff, music therapists and bereavement counselors
Who will staff the facility?
- The residential center will be staffed around the clock by nurses
What are the fees for staying in the room?
- There are room and board fees associated with the residential center
- Fees will be based upon a patient’s ability to pay
- The is an application process to request assistance to pay for room and board based on financial need

When can my family and friends visit?
- Visitation is allowed at anytime
- Children and pets will be allowed to visit
- Residents may also choose to leave the facility to spend time with family members to attend church, go shopping and go to dinner
What will the resident rooms include?
- Hospital beds
- Bedside tables
- Guest chairs
- Armoire with television DVD/VCR combos
- Sleep chair
- Lamp
- Telephones
Will I be allowed to bring personal belongings to the residential center?
The rooms will be furnished however residents will be able to bring clothing, family pictures and any other items that will provide them the comforts of home.
